Nicol Thomas have a team of in-house specialists that includes :

Code for Sustainable Homes and SAP Assessments. With our in-house licensed assessors, all members of staff have instant access to experts who can highlight the environmental impact of design decisions.

Having trained assessors adds to our considerable knowledge in sustainable design which has been gained from vast experience in CFSH projects ranging from Level 3 to Level 6. Nicol Thomas has also led successful BREEAM and Passivhaus schemes. Our training and experience ensures the specification of environmentally friendly but also cost-effective and proven solutions. Correct specification and detailing minimises future maintenance works required post completion and reduces the running costs of the completed building.

Our assessors can provide advice to Clients early into a project with regard to scheme specific sustainability issues, highlighting any potential impacts on scheme design or costs. We actively encourage our clients to see the inclusion of sustainable design as adding value to a project, through mitigating the impact of the build on the environment, reducing running costs and providing unique selling points to their developments.

Regular site inspections by our Clerk of Works monitor both quality and adherence to the building contract specification.

Most projects that Nicol Thomas are involved with are deemed notifiable with regard to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.  In the case of such notifiable projects, clients must appoint a competent CDM co-ordinator.  Nicol Thomas provide this service and give advice to clients on how to meet their duties as set out in these regulations.
